Zion Pettigrew is a 2017 alum of Mount Carmel High School. A successful prep career saw Zion finish as the 11th ranked prospect in the state by Prep Baseball Report. He earned All-Conference honors his senior year batting .404 with 8 Hrs and 52 RBIs.

Zion accepted a baseball scholarship to the University of Iowa out of high school where he spent his freshman season before transferring to the University of Illinois at Springfield (UIS).

Pettigrew had a historic career at UIS where he was a 3 year starter, 2 time region/conference Player of the Year and 2 time consensus All-American. He slashed .428/.522/.893 over his career where he is ranked #1 all time in career batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, and OPS.

He signed with the Washington Nationals and played in their MiLB system from 2022-2024.
